Years of neglect had ravaged this Craftsman bungalow--especially the lefthand side of the house which totally lacked a covering. The left side of house had pulled 6 inches away from the rest of the house and reuniting it wasn't a small task. As a result, the flooring, subflooring, beams, and joists on that side of the house were all suffering from serious water damage, termites, and rot. We rebuilt the majority of that side of the house structurally, then turned attention to adding historic finishes such as heart fir floors on the interior, a historic heartpine door on the front. We repaired the once lovely granite piers and foundation, adding the grapevine grout. We removed the grungy screens, restored the columns, repainted the transom numbers in gold leaf paint, and added a historic paint scheme. The ginko themed stained glass window in the front gable was designed specifically for the house and is backlit at night.
