front of house
This wonderful 1925 Craftsman bungalow was missing some of its original architectural elements, but had wonderful open spaces, original doors and windows, and heartpine floors. The back end of the house had suffered water damage over the decades so we rebuilt much of the kitchen floor, and the entire third bedroom, including the roof and roof supports.

By the time the house was complete, you could imagine sipping mint juleps on the porch as the wind carried the smell of camellia blooms in the air.

Over the years, the porch had been screened in and we removed the dirty screening and repaired the original columns, adding detail trim that was missing. The yard had two gorgeous old growth plantings as well: a huge Camellia bush and a elegant tulip tree. In order to accent the positives, we tilled up and sodded the yard, installing border hydrangeas and other contrasting foliage. Strolling up the front path to the wide porch, you’ll notice the lovely Craftsman door that we installed and then refinished.

This wide open living room boasts over ten foot ceiling and heartpine floors that reflect the light coming in through the large windows. The fireplace was missing its mantel, so we bought a salvaged mantel, refinished it, and filled that detail in the room. This hearth was large and the antique brick so warm and inviting that we chose to leave it exposed above the mantel. To finish the room, we installed a thick crown molding and painted it a creamy antique white.

Flowing nicely from the living room is the dining room. Again a lovely open space, the dining room has a large adjoining oak mantel and brick hearth, heartpine floors, double one over one windows, and crown molding.

This kitchen went through a massive transformation from structural nightmare to glorious luxury. We installed Craftsman style mission cabinets with symmetrical glass doors, stainless steel sink, gas stove, vent-hood, and dishwasher and topped them off with lovely Uba tuba granite counters. A double set of French doors leads out to a marvelous party deck and crowning the doors is a stained glass transom, custom designed and installed to look original to the house.
