This three bedroom/two bathroom 1889 Victorian is located in the historic district of Cabbagetown, established around the Cotton Mill in the 1870s. Unique for the area, this large Victorian features a fancy gingerbread front porch, large original windows, stained glass transoms, and a wonderfully ornate stained glass front door. High ceilings, original stripped heartpine doors, antique door hardware, refinished century old lighting, and two sets of original pocket doors are only a few of the glorious details this home boasts. The home's woodwork is fancy fluted casing capped with bullseye blocks. Because of the wonderful design of this house, it's equally comfortable for entertaining or just cozying up in this grand space. Click here to see the floor plan.

As you approach the home, you'll notice the wonderful porch, its antique brick foundation and ornate Victorian gingerbread details. The gorgeous front door is original carved heart of pine and stained glass.

This renovation began with intensive structural work - rebuilding many floor joists, supporting the floors, re-supporting the roof, adding new beams that span the entire length of the house, re-pointing the foundation, and creating a much tighter, stronger structure. We then added all new systems (including copper plumbing, electrical, and dual system HVAC), insulated the entire exterior, and roofed the house with 30-year black, architectural shingles. Once the backbone of the house was in great shape, we turned our attention to the details and finish work, which you can see on the tour below.

Virtual Tour:

As you enter the house, you'll enter a wide center hall still sporting it's original heart pine tongue and groove beaded board. The hallway is very grand--it's nearly a room in its own right. Imagine your bookcases, hall tree, and other furniture here.

Victorian to its soul, this kitchen puts the gourmet into "gourmet kitchen." Rich natural cherry cabinets have been designed and installed with careful thought and attention to cooking. Topped with a rich brown silestone, this is a kitchen where you can whip up culinary treats with reckless abandon. Period lighting combined with recessed cans offer great task lighting. Stainless steel appliances finish off the effect. Flowing into the space is the sunroom/breakfast nook flooding light into the kitchen. The kitchen overlooks the large fenced yard and opens onto the large party deck. The kitchen flooring is reclaimed heart fir flooring from a North Carolina schoolhouse.
